PRIME Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been cleared of Covid-19 after completing his 14-day self-quarantine period. He was also tested as negative for the virus twice.

In today’s statement, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said Muhyiddin’s second Covid-19 test has been resulted as negative on October 15.

“Regarding this, the Prime Minister’s Office would like to inform that both of the prime minister’s Covid-19 tests have resulted as negative throughout his 14-day of self-quarantine,” said PMO in a statement today.

The second Covid-19 test has been conducted on the prime minister by the health ministry on October 14 and the result was confirmed as negative on the next day.

Although the result was negative, the prime minister has decided to chair the National Security Council meeting via video conferencing this morning as precautionary and safety measure.

“Although the self-quarantine period has ended, the NSC meeting will still be conducted via video conferencing as a precautionary measure amidst the current Covid-19 situation in the country,” said PMO as the NSC meeting was commenced daily since October 7.

The self-quarantine was initiated after Muhyiddin chaired the National Security Council’s special meeting on October 3 that was also attended by a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of religious affairs, Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad who had his result as positive for the Covid-19 test on October 5.

In addition, this has been the second time Muhyiddin had to undergo self-quarantine after being in contact with an individual who tested positive Covid-19 in May.

The prime minister has since been working from home during the 14-day self-quarantine period. -Malaysiapost
